Sweat it out

Summer is almost upon us and I’m sure most of you are just like me, you are eating a bit healthier and trying to get some exercise in. Sure a month and half won’t quite give you a bikini ready body, but it’s still worth trying right? After all, a little more toned is always better.

There’s an art to stylish work out wear, it’s about getting the perfect balance between practical and fashionable. Layering is key to fun sportswear, mix up shapes and colours and don’t be afraid to throw in some accessories! A headscarf is very pretty and also keeps hair out of your face, sunglasses are always a good idea and a watch to keep track of things. Going for a walk? Why not go for a pair of wedge sneakers? So flattering for your legs and still comfortable enough to put in a few KMs.

Here at Ashka HQ, we are for all kinds of sports, skate, surf, cycling, whatever works for you and whatever makes you break out a sweat is good for you and gets the thumbs up from us.

New York Photo Diary

The inspiration for this month’s theme ‘Big City Bright Lights’ came from my recent trip to New York. One of, if not the biggest city in the world, Beyonce is right in singing it’s “where dreams are made of”. New York has been an inspiration for artists, musicians, writers and just about anyone with an ambition for decades. It was my second time in New York and it’s a city that never fails to wow and wonder, it’s a city I’d still love to live and work in one day. For now though, I’m content with re-living my 3 awesome weeks in the big city.

From fashion week highlights, to sight seeing and loads of food, I hope you enjoy this giant post as much as I have enjoyed putting it together.

Introducing – The Caleen Boot

While the entire internet oggled over Isabel Marant’s gorgeous spring summer 2013 collection that showed at Paris fashion week (don’t get me wrong, I oggled too), there is one single item that I oggled over even more. The Caleen boot. Isabel has done the impossible. She’s combined her two most coveted shoes, her sneaker wedges and her beloved Dicker boots and the result is pure Isabel Marant. Sure the Caleen boots might look more like Dicker, but that all important hidden wedge is what makes this the new It shoe. Come next northern hemisphere spring, all the celebrities will be wearing this very boot and Caleen will be the next cult shoe. That’s my prediction.

Don’t forget you hear it here first.
